A federal judge issued a ruling that temporarily blocks the Trump Administration’s new rule declaring that legal immigrants must be able to purchase their own health insurance, as per Politico.
The order comes from District Court Judge Michael Simon in Oregon, who claimed that his ruling was justified because the rule would disproportionately affect poorer immigrants, which Simon claimed to be unconstitutional. The rule was projected to “affect approximately 60 percent of all immigrant visa applicants.”
The Trump Administration rule was aimed at reducing the financial burden on U.S. taxpayers who would otherwise be forced to subsidize health care for immigrants, legal and illegal. The rule also specifically prevented immigrants from simply using Obamacare and instead being required to purchase unsubsidized health insurance.
As with many unilateral rulings blocking the Trump Administration’s actions, the decision comes from yet another Obama-era appointee, and the administration is expected to appeal.

Another left wing judge in an extremely left wing state attempting to block the President’s authority over immigration. Why on earth should we allow people to legally immigrate that immediately become takers at the public trough?
